Richard CLAYSON & Andrew GARRETT harpsichord, Lyminge, 1972
What Wanda Landowska meant for the revival of the modern harpsichord in the first half of the 20th century, Gustav Leonardt meant as a performer for the reorientation to historical harpsichord construction. In 1962 he had a replica of a Dulcken harpsichord (Antwerp,1745) built by Martin Skowronek (Bremen). Leonardt's numerous recordings for Harmonia Mundi stimulated many builders worldwide to create exact replicas of museum instruments. This instrument is a replica of a harpsichord Jacob & Abraham Kirckman London 1776.
