MAENDLER-SCHRAMM CLAVICHORD, Munchen, 1950
In Munich, Karl Maendler took over the piano company from Johann Schramm after he married his daughter. From 1907 he started to specialize in building harpsichords. He produced was an average of 12 instruments per year. He too assumed that historical harpsichords could be improved with techniques from piano construction, which is why he made heavily built cabinets. From the 1930s onwards he incorporated metal frames for reinforcement. This rare clavichord has a metal frame and the strings are crossed three times.
